Bewitching purple blue tanzanite is a beautiful December birthstone.
A rare crystal found only in Tanzania, tanzanite (also known as blue zoisite) became a coveted stone in the 1970s when it was made famous by world-renowned jewellers Tiffany & Co.
Striking tanzanite is well-known for its ability to enhance psychic powers, as it emits high vibration energies. These energies also make it a wonderful stone for meditation.
It is connected to the Crown Chakra, the Third Eye and Throat Chakra, and is believed to be a powerful metaphysical healing stone – helping wearers to overcome worry, fear and re-build trust, so that they can feel happier, loved and centred.
Tanzanite also assists wearers to get to know themselves on a deeper level, allowing them to think about the importance of their lives and not feel the need to follow the crowd, instead to journey on their own path.
Tanzanite is a calming and soothing crystal which makes it an ideal stone to wear when working – it can reduce stress, allowing wearers to stay focused and motivated.
This powerful stone provides practical solutions to problems and improves communication, at work and at home.
As a transformation crystal, tanzanite encourages wearers to be self-confident in who they are, to express themselves and to live life purposefully.
How and where tanzanite is formed?
Tanzanite was first discovered in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, over fifty years ago, in 1967. Deposits of Tanzanite can now only be found in the Merelani Hills of Tanzania making it one of the world’s rarest crystals.
Known as blue zoisite, it is a calcium aluminum silicate which forms in prisms. Tanzanite ranges in colour from deep ocean navy to light icy blue. The most popular tanzanite crystals are a deep blue with enchanting purple hue.
